1. Not being proactive.
Proactive is a most abused word. Every man (or is it man-ager) worth his salt uses the word. I’ll use the definition I learned in 1999 when I first read Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of highly effective people (I know the title is quite a cliché, but even a single chapter of this book is worth a quintal of personality development and self-help books, including those of Anthony Robbins). It means we are responsible for our own lives.
That should explain everything. Let me elaborate. At work, it could mean any or all of the following:
